Attosecond nonlinear optics using gigawatt-scale isolated attosecond pulses
High-energy isolated attosecond pulses required for the most intriguing nonlinear attosecond experiments as well as for attosecond-pump/attosecond-probe spectroscopy are still lacking at present. Here we propose and demonstrate a robust generation method of intense isolated attosecond pulses, which enable us to perform a nonlinear attosecond optics experiment. By combining a two-colour field sy...
متن کاملGeneration of few-cycle terawatt light pulses using optical parametric chirped pulse amplification.
We demonstrate the generation of 9.8+/-0.3 fs laser pulses with a peak power exceeding one terawatt at 30 Hz repetition rate, using optical parametric chirped pulse amplification. The amplifier is pumped by 140 mJ, 60 ps pulses at 532 nm, and amplifies seed pulses from a Ti:Sapphire oscillator to 23 mJ/pulse, resulting in 10.5 mJ/pulse after compression while amplified fluorescence is kept belo...
متن کاملElectromagnetic bubble generation by half-cycle pulses.
Electromagnetic (EM) bubbles (EMB's), unipolar, super-short, and intense nonoscillating solitary pulses of EM radiation, can be generated in a gas of nonlinear atoms by available half-cycle pulses (HCP's). We investigate how EMB's characteristics (amplitude, length, formation distance, and total number) are controlled by the amplitude and length of originating HCP's. We also predict shocklike w...
متن کاملQuasi-half-cycle terahertz pulse generation via optical rectification in quantum wells using shaped optical pulses.
It is shown that optical rectification in biased quantum wells using specially shaped optical pulses can be used to generate quasi-half-cycle THz electromagnetic pulses. Namely, we investigate THz generation by pulses incorporating a rapid pi phase shift. We further explore the potential of this scheme for high-repetition-rate quasi-half-cycle THz pulse generation.
متن کاملAttosecond pulses measured from the attosecond lighthouse
The attosecond lighthouse is a method of using ultrafast wavefront rotation with high-harmonic generation to create a series of coherent, spatially separated attosecond pulses. Previously, temporal measurements by photoelectron streaking characterized isolated attosecond pulses created by manipulating the single-atom response1–4. The attosecond lighthouse, in contrast, generates a series of pul...
